My Assessment of Sweet Bonanza 2500
Sweet Bonanza 2500 is Pragmatic Play's 2026 upgrade of one of the most recognisable candy pokies in online casinos. The basic recipe is still unmistakably Sweet Bonanza: a 6x5 grid, Pay Anywhere wins, cascading symbols, lollipop Scatters and multiplier bombs. The real change is hidden in the number attached to the title. Multiplier bombs can now reach an enormous 2,500x, while the maximum payout remains capped at 25,000x the bet.
I have reviewed plenty of sequels where the number in the title feels like pure marketing. Here it actually describes a meaningful mathematical change. Sweet Bonanza 2500 is not a completely new game, but it is a noticeably more aggressive version of the formula. If you already know Sweet Bonanza or Sweet Bonanza 1000, there is almost no learning curve. The difference is that the upper end of the multiplier distribution has become considerably more extreme.
My rating for Sweet Bonanza 2500 is 4.8 out of 5. I like the expanded Free Spins options and the 2,500x multiplier ceiling, although I would not recommend choosing it purely because the headline numbers are bigger. This is a high-volatility pokie, and the larger theoretical upside comes with the usual trade-off: long stretches where very little of consequence happens.

How Sweet Bonanza 2500 works
The base game keeps the same Pay Anywhere system that made the original Sweet Bonanza easy to understand. You do not need paylines or adjacent symbols. Instead, matching symbols simply need to appear anywhere on the 6x5 board.
A winning combination begins with at least eight matching symbols. Larger groups pay more, with the highest symbol payout reached when 12 or more matching symbols appear on the grid.
I still think this is one of the reasons the Sweet Bonanza formula works so well on mobile. There are no complicated paylines to trace and no requirement to understand which reel a combination must start from. If enough copies of the same fruit or candy symbol are visible, you have a win.
The symbol set is very familiar if you have played previous games in the series. Fruit symbols occupy the lower end of the paytable, while the colourful candy shapes are more valuable. The base-game payouts themselves are not the main attraction, though. The real potential begins when winning symbols start creating tumbles.
Tumble feature
Every winning combination is removed from the grid. The remaining symbols drop down and new ones enter from above. If the fresh layout produces another win, the process repeats.
One paid spin can therefore create several separate payouts before the sequence finally ends.
This mechanic has been copied by countless slots since the original Sweet Bonanza became popular, but Pragmatic Play still executes it cleanly. The animations are fast enough that repeated tumbles do not become frustrating, while each new drop is easy to follow on both desktop and mobile.
In the base game, a long tumble can produce a respectable result through symbol payouts alone. However, the truly important multiplier mechanics are concentrated in the bonus features.
Four lollipops unlock 10 Free Spins
The lollipop is the Scatter symbol. Landing four or more lollipops triggers 10 Free Spins.
During the feature, three or more additional lollipops award another five spins. Retriggers matter considerably in a game like this because each extra spin creates another opportunity for one of the enormous multiplier bombs to appear.
| Free Spins feature | Details |
|---|---|
| Initial trigger | 4 or more lollipop Scatters |
| Starting Free Spins | 10 |
| Retrigger | 3 or more lollipops |
| Extra spins per retrigger | 5 |
| Multiplier bombs | Available during the bonus |
| Maximum individual multiplier | 2,500x |
| Maximum total win | 25,000x bet |
Free Spins are still the part of the game I care about most. Base-game tumbles can be entertaining, but Sweet Bonanza has always been built around the moment when a winning cascade meets multiplier bombs.
2,500x multiplier bombs are the main upgrade
This is the mechanic that justifies the sequel.
During Free Spins, multiplier bomb symbols can appear with values reaching as high as 2,500x. When a tumble sequence produces a win and one or more bombs are present, their values are added together and the resulting multiplier is applied to the win at the end of the sequence.
For example, if 25x, 100x and 500x bombs appear during the same successful tumble sequence, their values combine rather than being applied separately. That creates a total multiplier of 625x.
Multiple multiplier bombs are therefore much more important than a single impressive-looking symbol. The most exciting rounds tend to be those where several multipliers land around a relatively ordinary symbol win and suddenly transform it into something substantial.
Compared with Sweet Bonanza 1000, the obvious upgrade is the multiplier ceiling. That game raised individual bombs to 1,000x. Sweet Bonanza 2500 pushes the same idea to 2,500x.
What is interesting is that the maximum overall win remains 25,000x in both games. The 2500 in the title refers to the multiplier bomb, not the maximum payout of the slot.
Does 2,500x automatically make it better than Sweet Bonanza 1000?
No. This is where I think players need to ignore the marketing number for a moment.
A larger multiplier ceiling does not mean the slot pays more frequently, and it certainly does not mean you have a realistic expectation of seeing a 2,500x bomb in every few bonus rounds. It simply gives the mathematical model more room at the extreme upper end.
Personally, I prefer having that possibility available. Seeing a 2,500x multiplier land in a successful tumble is exactly the sort of ridiculous event that makes a high-volatility pokie memorable.
But if I were judging the game purely on consistency, I would not automatically rank it above Sweet Bonanza 1000. These are games designed around rare, disproportionate outcomes rather than smooth session-to-session returns.
25,000x maximum win
The maximum payout is capped at 25,000 times the total bet.
That means a 1-unit spin has a theoretical maximum payout of 25,000 units. Once the maximum-win condition is reached, the round ends according to the game's rules.
Twenty-five thousand times the stake is a serious maximum for a mainstream Pragmatic Play release, but it is worth keeping the number in perspective. Max Win is a mathematical ceiling, not a prediction.
I never increase my stake because a pokie advertises 25,000x. If anything, high volatility and a large maximum make me more conservative with stake sizing because the entire model is telling me that a meaningful portion of the return is concentrated in relatively rare outcomes.
RTP deserves a closer look
The Sweet Bonanza 2500 version currently catalogued on Slots Bonanza uses an RTP of 95.53%. You may also see the game listed elsewhere with an RTP around 96.5% because Pragmatic Play games can be distributed in different mathematical configurations.
This is why I do not recommend trusting a random Google result before playing for money. Open the information or help menu inside the exact casino version you are using and check the RTP there.
A difference of roughly one percentage point may not feel important during ten spins, but RTP is a long-term mathematical measurement. Across very large wagering volumes, alternative configurations are meaningfully different.
For the same reason, I would never advertise Sweet Bonanza 2500 as simply a “96.52% RTP slot” without explaining that lower operator configurations exist.
High volatility changes how I approach it
Sweet Bonanza 2500 is a high-volatility pokie. That matches my experience of the wider Sweet Bonanza family after the original: the sequels increasingly concentrate attention around the bonus game and large multipliers.
High volatility does not mean that every session will lose quickly or that a big win is somehow “due” after a dry spell. Spins remain independent RNG events.
What volatility tells me is that I should expect the distribution of results to be less smooth. Small and medium wins can disappear quickly during an unproductive stretch, while a relatively small number of bonus events can dominate the result of an entire session.
For that reason, I would much rather play more spins at a comfortable stake than increase the bet simply because nothing has happened recently.
Special bets and Bonus Buy options
Pragmatic Play has expanded the number of ways to enter or modify the bonus compared with the early Sweet Bonanza games.
Depending on the market and casino, Sweet Bonanza 2500 can offer special bets and several Bonus Buy options. These include access to the standard Free Spins feature as well as enhanced Super Free Spins modes.
One Super Free Spins configuration raises the minimum multiplier value to 20x. Another uses a minimum 10x multiplier together with a progressive total multiplier that can increase during the feature.
I like these options when testing a pokie because they make it easier to understand the bonus mathematics without spending hundreds of base-game spins waiting for a natural trigger.
For real-money play, though, I treat feature purchases very differently. Paying hundreds of times the normal stake concentrates a lot of risk into a single event. A more expensive bonus does not guarantee a profit and can still return far less than its purchase price.
Bonus Buy availability also depends on local regulation. Some jurisdictions do not permit the feature at all.
The base game has not changed dramatically
If you were hoping Sweet Bonanza 2500 would reinvent the series visually, it does not.
The mountains, clouds, fruit and brightly coloured sweets are immediately recognisable. Pragmatic Play has deliberately preserved the identity of one of its most successful franchises rather than rebuilding it from scratch.
I can understand both reactions to this. On one hand, the artwork is becoming extremely familiar. There are now so many candy pokies across the industry that another pastel grid full of bananas and gummy symbols hardly feels original.
On the other hand, Sweet Bonanza is one of the games responsible for making that visual style popular in the first place. Completely changing it would almost defeat the point of releasing another Sweet Bonanza sequel.
Mobile gameplay
Sweet Bonanza 2500 works particularly well as a mobile pokie because the Pay Anywhere system requires very little visual interpretation.
The 6x5 board remains readable on a phone, the bet controls are straightforward and multiplier bombs display their values clearly enough that I do not need to zoom in during a busy Free Spins sequence.
Tumbles are also relatively quick. That sounds like a small detail, but it matters in cascade games. Some developers use overly elaborate win animations that make repeated chains painfully slow. Pragmatic Play generally keeps the action moving.
Where Sweet Bonanza 2500 sits in the series
The original Sweet Bonanza established the 6x5 Pay Anywhere formula, tumbling wins and multiplier bombs. It remains the reference point for the entire family.
Sweet Bonanza 1000 substantially increased the multiplier potential and pushed the maximum win to 25,000x.
Sweet Bonanza 2500 takes the next step by increasing the individual multiplier ceiling again, this time to 2,500x, while retaining the same 25,000x overall maximum.
So I do not see 2500 as a completely separate concept. I see it as the more extreme evolution of a game engine Pragmatic Play has spent years refining.
If you already dislike Sweet Bonanza, the 2500 edition is unlikely to change your mind. If you enjoy the original formula and specifically want higher multiplier potential and more bonus options, this is probably the version I would explore first.
What I like about Sweet Bonanza 2500
- Multiplier bombs can reach 2,500x.
- The maximum win remains a substantial 25,000x.
- The Pay Anywhere system is simple and works extremely well on mobile.
- Tumbling wins can create several payouts from one spin.
- Free Spins can be retriggered with another five spins.
- Multiple multiplier bombs are added together before being applied.
- Enhanced bonus modes add genuine mechanical variation.
What I like less
- The visual concept has changed very little from previous Sweet Bonanza games.
- High volatility can create long stretches of uneventful base-game spins.
- The enormous 2,500x multiplier is naturally a rare outcome.
- The 25,000x maximum win is unchanged from Sweet Bonanza 1000 despite the higher multiplier ceiling.
- Different RTP configurations mean players need to check the actual casino version carefully.
Who I think will enjoy it
I would recommend Sweet Bonanza 2500 primarily to players who already enjoy modern high-volatility Pragmatic Play pokies. It makes the most sense if multiplier bombs, tumbles and Free Spins are exactly the mechanics you are looking for.
It is also a natural choice for existing Sweet Bonanza fans. The rules are immediately familiar, but the possibility of 2,500x bombs gives the Free Spins feature a new upper level of excitement.
I would be less enthusiastic if you prefer frequent small wins, low volatility or highly original themes. The game makes no attempt to disguise what it is: another Sweet Bonanza, deliberately turned up another notch.
My assessment
Sweet Bonanza 2500 is evolutionary rather than revolutionary, and I think that is perfectly fine. Pragmatic Play already had one of the most recognisable slot formats in the market. Rebuilding the entire engine would make less sense than improving the feature that players associate most strongly with the series.
The 2,500x multiplier bomb is a genuine upgrade, the Super Free Spins options add more depth and the 25,000x maximum remains competitive. I also appreciate that the core game is still extremely easy to understand despite having considerably more bonus options than the original.
The weakness is equally obvious: the base game, theme and general presentation feel very familiar. Sweet Bonanza 2500 is aimed at people who want more Sweet Bonanza, not players searching for something completely new.
For me, that still makes it one of the more interesting recent additions to the Pragmatic Play Bonanza catalogue. My rating is 4.8 out of 5.
