My Assessment of Brick House Bonanza
Brick House Bonanza is Pragmatic Play's take on The Three Little Pigs, but the storybook theme disguises one of its more unusual bonus structures. Released in January 2025, the pokie uses a 5x3 grid with 243 ways to win and turns Scatter positions into houses made of straw, wood or brick. The better the house, the stronger the potential prize when the Big Bad Wolf finally appears at the end of Free Spins.
I like the idea because the bonus gives every Scatter a location-based purpose. Instead of merely adding spins or triggering a multiplier, a Scatter marks a particular position on the grid. Repeated Scatters on that position improve its material, and its eventual value is revealed only when the feature ends. The wheel provides additional routes into upgraded versions of that game.
My rating is 4.5 out of 5. The build-and-reveal mechanic is engaging, although a grid full of houses should never be mistaken for a guaranteed large return. The values are random, and even the most attractive bonus animation remains subject to the game's house edge.

Why this is a 243-ways game, not a Pay Anywhere slot
There are five reels and three visible rows. Wins form when matching regular symbols appear on adjacent reels from left to right, beginning with the first reel. With 243 possible ways, there are no fixed lines to trace, but a random set of matching symbols scattered anywhere on the screen does not automatically pay.
The symbol design borrows from the famous fable: pigs, building materials, tools and a wolf-themed Wild. Pragmatic Play has used a brighter, almost children's-book colour palette, yet the mathematics have more in common with feature-heavy modern pokies than with a traditional three-reel fruit machine.
I find the base game readable on a phone. The symbols are distinct, and the wheel above the grid makes it obvious that there is more to chase than a standard Scatter bonus. The real attraction, however, starts when enough golden bank Scatters appear.
Six Scatters start the house-building feature
Landing at least six Scatters activates Free Spins, beginning with six spins. Each Scatter that participated in the trigger marks its position with a straw square. When another Scatter lands on a marked position, the square is upgraded through wood and finally brick. Scatters that land on unmarked positions create new straw squares instead.
The marks remain visible throughout the feature. Three or more Scatters during Free Spins add one extra spin, creating another chance for additional positions or upgrades. The bonus is therefore not just about counting down the spins; I am also watching whether marked squares are becoming more valuable.
| Mark | How it appears | Potential value |
|---|---|---|
| Straw | Scatter first marks an empty position | Prize up to 1.5x the stake |
| Wood | Scatter lands again on a straw position | Prize up to 60x |
| Brick | Another Scatter upgrades a wooden position | Prize up to 5,000x |
| At bonus end | The wolf reveals the built houses' awards | Random cash prizes or fixed awards according to the feature |
That upgrade order is the core of the game. A straw square does not automatically turn into a brick house just because the bonus runs for several spins; the appropriate Scatter needs to land again. Equally, a brick mark does not promise 5,000x. The published number is the top end of its potential prize range.
The finale is satisfying because the wolf blows the houses down to expose the values underneath. I find this more memorable than a generic payout counter increasing after every spin. It creates a beginning, a developing middle and a final reveal, even though none of those visual stages alters the underlying randomness.
Wheel Bonus: three enhanced routes and a prize
Three or more Wheel Bonus symbols can open a separate wheel. Its outcomes include the Mega Bank, Windmill and Brick House features, or a random fixed jackpot. These features change how Free Spins begin: some provide enlarged Scatter patterns, while others create or upgrade marked positions before the first bonus spin.
This is the part of Brick House Bonanza I think is most interesting for experienced pokie fans. The wheel does not merely promise a higher multiplier. It can change the starting state of the house-building feature. If marked positions are already upgraded, the entire bonus has a different potential profile from an ordinary six-Scatter trigger.
For clarity, the jackpot-style prizes are fixed game awards, not progressive pools growing with wagers across casinos. The overall advertised maximum is 10,000x; that is distinct from the up-to-5,000x potential of an individual brick-house reveal.
Are the Bonus Buy options worthwhile?
The published Feature Buy menu includes entry to Free Spins at 100x the stake and the Wheel Bonus at 200x, where regulations allow purchases. It is a useful way to inspect the feature in a demo, but I would not recommend interpreting the more expensive purchase as a guaranteed better result.
At a nominal one-unit base stake, 200x means spending 200 units on a single bonus event. A feature that returns 150 units still loses 50 units, regardless of how impressive the wheel animation looked. I prefer analysing what each option actually unlocks rather than assuming its price reveals the chance of profit.
96.50% RTP and the Medium classification
Pragmatic Play's public game listing gives 96.50% RTP and Medium volatility. Some independent sites label the same game High or Very High, but I keep the provider's classification rather than silently replacing it with an editorial impression. The presence of a 10,000x maximum does not by itself establish the mathematical volatility rating.
Lower RTP variants are available with some operators, including 95.50% and 94.50%. The help panel within the exact game version is the right place to verify which one is active. Over the long term that difference matters; over a short session neither value promises a particular return.
The published 27.93% hit frequency should not be confused with a 27.93% probability of making a profit on the next spin. Small wins count as hits too, including those lower than the amount spent. There is no staking method capable of making the Scatter positions more likely to upgrade.
Theme, mobile layout and what could be better
The Three Little Pigs concept feels more appropriate than I expected. Straw, wood and brick are instantly understood, so the game rarely needs to stop for a complicated explanation. That matters on mobile, where too many feature markers can easily obscure the reels.
My main criticism is that the base game can feel like a waiting room for the house-building bonus. The symbols and regular wins are functional, but the feature reveal provides nearly all the character. Players who prefer strong base-game mechanics may feel underwhelmed until the Scatters or Wheel Bonus arrive.
The sequel, Bigger Barn House Bonanza, keeps the house structure but introduces the Bigger Wheel and a higher maximum. The later Better Barn House Bonanza takes the wheel system further still. I would play this original first if I wanted to understand the straw-to-brick logic before exploring additional wheel layers.
My assessment
Brick House Bonanza earns its place in the Pragmatic Play catalogue because the game has a recognisable idea that connects theme and mechanics. The house-building marks are intuitive, the reveal is entertaining and the wheel provides a second route into boosted bonus conditions.
I score it 4.5 out of 5. It is not the simplest Bonanza pokie, nor is it the best choice for somebody who wants every regular spin to be eventful. But the interaction between marked positions and the final house prizes gives it a distinctive appeal. You can discover other formats through the Bonanza slot catalogue. Any real-money play should stay within an entertainment budget you can afford to lose.
